How to Boost Sales with a Visual Representation of Your Products
12th October 2006
After writing or creating your book, software or other product it comes a time to promote your product.
One of the best ways of doing so is to create or have created a graphic that shows your product to its best potential.
What type of graphic will you need? Well, that really depends on what you're selling. The purpose is to give a visual representation of your product to aid sales and give a quality look to your product. In order to achieve this you will need to choose an image that represents your product(s) and supports your sales message.
If you are selling an ebook, report, CD, DVD, video, software, or a combination of these products? Then you will need to visually represent those products!
The best way to do that would be to use an ebook cover image when you are selling an ebook, a flat image for a report, a CD image for a CD, a DVD/video cover or CD jewel case for videos, and a box image for software or bundled products.
If you give an accurate representation of your product, your customers will know exactly what to expect on purchasing. It is better to represent accurately for example; don't use a thick book spine when selling a 8 page report. If you do, you can expect unsatisfied customers and refund requests. If you are selling a report, I would recommend that you can use a special report image or a spiral bound notebook image.
Some people will make comment that the book is not a physical book as shown in the picture. It doesn't matter, by showing an ebook cover image you are not misrepresenting your product. Your sales letter tells your prospects what you are selling and that it is an ebook. You are just making your ebook look more 'real" and more "visible" to your audience by providing an ebook cover image.
To be clear an ebook cover is a small image that is different from a hard book cover although it may look like a hard book cover, it isn't. It is a lot smaller and it doesn't have the high resolution that a printed hard book cover might have. You could turn a printed hard cover into an ebook cover but it is not as easy to turn an ebook cover into a printed book cover. If you would like or need a printed book cover, you must start with a larger, high resolution image.
