Why your position on the Search Engine Results Page is so important

Most businesses in our society today have or are in the process of gaining a website as a way of marketing and selling their products or services. The reason for this is simple the Internet is the biggest form of marketing and the best way of getting your business out there to a global market that is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week; it is in effect the best chance of success for your business venture.
If you are hoping to get your business up and running via the Internet then you need to get people to visit and use your website; the only way that your pretty much going to do this is if you are able to get your website to appear in the first 20 results of the search engine results page. Why? When you conduct a search on sites such as Google and Yahoo you are more likely to use the service of or buy products off a site that appears on the first two pages of the search engines, any lower than this you won’t bother. I believe that the reason for this is that the websites that appear in the top spots of the search engines are considered to be more trusted and let’s face it you’re only going to do business with a company who are trusted and experienced.
A search engine results page is known in short as SERP and refers to a listing of websites that are the result of a search engine search. These results are the response of a keyword query. What is meant by this keyword query is, for example, if your website is about selling office equipment then some of the keyword queries that people will make are office equipment, office supplies or office furniture so for people to use your business to buy office equipment you will need to target these keywords.
Targeting keywords is done by making sure that the text that is placed on your website is keyword rich so that when search engines are looking for relevant websites yours is one of the top ones that appears in the search engine results.
The Search Engines Result Pages (SERP’s) can be broadly divided into two categories: Organic (SEO) listings and Paid Advertisements usually bought on a Pay Per Click (PPC) basis. Either SEO or PPC will help to get your website higher up within the search engine results pages but the one that I recommend is SEO, which refers to the process of engineering your website in order for it to be properly read by the search engine spiders as this will give your site an increased probability of achieving desirable results within the Search Engines Result Pages
You should be doing everything that you can in order to get your website within the prime positions of the search engine results pages so that your business has the best chance of gaining more traffic and in effect more customers. If your website appears in these prime positions your business is given the best chance of success as more people will buy your products or services.
So what are you waiting for? Get your website out there today and start thinking of ways that you can get your website into the top places of the search engine results now.
