Beijing Olympics Security
15th August 2008
We live in a world that is no longer safe. Terrorism is in its highest peak, and is wreaking havoc all over the world. The United Nations seemingly has failed to combat this reality and now, as the World would once again meet in a healthy athletic competition, terrorist plots are driving everybody crazy.
China is now drawing its measures and taking serious moments just to make sure that their hosting of the World Olympics on August will be safe and peaceful. Chinese and western terrorism experts are not denying that the threat from terrorist groups, particularly of the militant Islamic stripe, is real. So tight their security now, that China had to deny a Christian Gospel Tour this August. The Christian group, after China's denial, had therefore decided to have their Gospel presentation in the Philippines this August 1. Hardly a month has passed this year without the Chinese government reporting it had disrupted a terrorist plot. But with so much effort focused on Beijing, terrorists may be working on the blind side of China, seeking more vulnerable targets.
Experts analyzed that the chances of attacks on Olympic areas are very unlikely. But they further speculated that there could be attacks elsewhere in the run-up to the Olympics to spoil the mood of celebration. This is why China is doing its best to give a maximum security that the world in this high-tech and advance age would witness. Of course, so as not to give the terrorist ideas, we would not be disclosing China's security system and parameters for this World Olympics.
As the month of August approaches swiftly, let us unite for peace. Let us recall that the true meaning and purpose of the Olympics – a healthy and peaceful competition of all nations to share culture and training systems in athletic areas. This article is therefore a call to everybody to pray fervently for the upcoming World Olympics. And may our Supreme Being give us the protection we need.
