Umbrella can be seen most often in our daily life.It enjoys a history of more than 4000 years.It is said that umbrella was invented by Lu Ban’s wife,whose surname was Yun.Lu Ban,a famous craftsman in Warring state period Lu Country,people called him ancestor of carpenter.

In antique times,umbrella was the symbol of power and status for the rich.And it had quite strict differences for various positions.This can shown in its size or colors.This convention lasted to Ming Dynasty.And paper umbrella appeared after Han Dynasty,then entered Japan in Tang Dynasty.It came into Europe in 16th century.

Davinci,an Italian artist,he designed the frist parachute with the inspiration from umbrella.In 1957,human elbow joints inspired a professor from Beijing Normal University,he created a flexible folding umbrella according to that principle.The folding umbrella was welcomed by the masses because of its convenience.And it was popular soon around the country.

Long long ago,there was no umbrella.People must stand much sun or heavy rain when they went out.It was really boring.Lu Ban,a kind and famous workman,he wanted to make a tool that sheltered people from sun and rain.But he didn’t know how to make.

Then he thought a good idea.He built pavilions on the road between a certain distance with others.Whoever could rest there once met bad weather.All people thanked Lu Ban very much.However,Lu Ban met another trouble,that was if it didn’t stop raining,should people stay in the pavilions all the time?

One day, when working,Lu Ban saw a child sheltering himself from sun with a piece of lotus leaf.Through careful observation,Lu Ban understood the reason in it.He made a umbrella with a piece of sheepskin and lots of thin bamboo wickers.Therefore,the original umbrella appeared.
