If you're looking to buy home appliances or electronic goods online then there are a wide range of stores for you to choose from. Some of them are already likely to be well known to you, thanks to their existing high street presence.

Others may not be quite so familiar, although it doesn't necessarily mean that they can't offer a good deal. I found this out recently when I was looking to buy a new dishwasher.

Most of the leading brands are sold by quite a few sites. Some of these are names that are well known to me, such as Currys, Comet, Sainsburys and Boots. Others were much less familiar.

The prices offered by some of the better known stores were a bit more expensive, but I wouldn't whether I really should take the risk by opting for one of the seemingly cheaper stores.

One name that kept cropping up, but which I'd not previously heard of, was Miller Brothers.

They weren't a name that I was familiar with, but they appeared to offer a very large range at competitive prices. I decided to find out more.

I soon felt somewhat surprised that I didn't already know about them. It turned out that they'd been in business since the 1920s and that they supply electrical goods to Asda.

There must be numerous companies like Miller Brothers who supply to our leading supermarkets but who we are rarely aware of. On this occasion, I had found that I could get a good deal by contacting them direct.

It's clear that large high street stores and supermarkets can often help us to get some really good deals, but it seems a shame to overlook smaller independent stores.

Don't be put off simply because you've never heard of the company before - you can always look them up and read some online reviews to find out more about them.

Once you've found a good, trusted online store then you could well be making savings for years to come.
