Lake Travis Independent School District
Located approximately twenty miles west of Austin, the highly acclaimed Lake Travis Independent School District provides outstanding educational services to the Lake Travis area. The serenity and natural beauty of the area contrasts the close proximity to the amenities of the Austin metroplex.

Lake Travis ISD was originally a part of Dripping Springs ISD. Lake Travis ISD was formed as a separate school district in 1981. With its motto, “Every heart. Every mind. Every day.”, Lake Travis ISD illustrates its commitment to providing the best of educational services to all its students within the beautiful Lake Travis community.

Included within Lake Travis ISD are four elementary schools (Bee Cave, Lake Pointe, Lake Travis, and Lakeway), two middle schools (Lake Travis Middle and Hudson Bend), and one high school (Lake Travis High). A fifth elementary school, Serene Hills, is scheduled to open in August 2008.

Future plans for Lake Travis ISD include the expansion of Lake Travis High School, Lake Travis Middle, and Hudson Bend Middle. Additional school campuses to accommodate the growth in the area are in the planning stages.

Community involvement is a vital component of Lake Travis ISD. Each campus has a Campus Advisory Team (CAT) made up of school staff and community members. Lake Travis ISD also participates in programs such as the Partners in Education Program and Volunteers in Public Schools. The Community Education Program offered by Lake Travis ISD enjoys strong community participation. School facilities receive extensive use from various organizations in the area.

On the Texas Education Agency Academic Excellence Indicator System for 2007, Lake Travis ISD was rated as Academically Acceptable. Schools within Lake Travis ISD receiving Exemplary ratings were Bee Cave Elementary, Lakeway Elementary, Lake Pointe Elementary, and Lake Travis Middle. Hudson Bend Middle received a Recognized rating from TEA.

Lakeway Elementary School was named by the Texas Business and Education Coalition to its Honor Roll for the second year in a row. Texas Monthly magazine named Lakeway Elementary and Hudson Bend Middle to its list of High Performing Public Schools in December 2007.

For 2007, two Lake Travis High School students were named as National Merit Finalists and eight students were recognized as Commended. Four Lake Travis High School students were named as National Hispanic Scholars in 2007.

The current enrollment for Lake Travis ISD is over 5,800. The demographic makeup of the student population is 83% White, 13% Hispanic, 1% African American, and 2% Asian students. The tax rate for Lake Travis ISD is $1.3585 per $100 valuation.
